My life these days

Greetings!

I thought I'd take advantage of Jerry's invitation to post something about my life (thanks, Jerry!). I'm married to a most wonderful woman, Debbie Shaw. We just celebrated our 13th anniversary. There were many years where I doubted that I'd ever get married again. I had even given up dating. But, then in 1990 I met Debbie at a dream workshop at the UU church. Amazing how life can change in a moment!

I retired from Bell Labs (now called Lucent) in 1989 and ran my own database development business for eleven years or so. I still dabble in that a little. But my main activity these days is teaching banjo, guitar, bass, and mandolin from my home. I play bass with the swing/blues band, "Five Guys Named Moe", and I play banjo with the "Timbre Wolves". I'm doing some volunteer work also. I play banjo as a member of the MusicCare program at the James Cancer hospital and also at Riverside hospital. I also am an adult volunteer with a group of high school kids at Gahanna-Lincoln High called "The GL Fiddlers". They are a great group of kids, and I have a lot of fun working with them.

A year ago my doctor told me my blood sugar was into the Diabetes area. She recommended diet and exercise. As a result, I cut back heavily on sugar and started exercising pretty much every day. At my last physical, my numbers were all good. So, I'm keeping up with the diet and exercise! I'm very thankful that my health is good. Well, that's it for now. I look forward to reading some of your postings!
