At home in NC - December 6th, 2007

Magic memories

Dec 06., we left nc for Or, Wa, & Vancouver bc, spending Xmas with Judith's son david & his Wife Melissa in Vancouver, wa, observing the antics of pups Harper & Sasha. We celebrated our fifth anniversary while there. David & Mellissa also spent 2007 Thanksgiving with us.. We have been flying about: Judith to AZ to visit friend nel, Dave flew to Chicago to visit Sis Esther& Bro Tom & 90 year old Auntie Es in Mi. He also flew to Pittsburgh for a W. va high school reunion & visited Sis Adele. In april, our boating began with travel to favorite cruise locations on remote river anchorages,, to okracoke Island & Cape Lookout Bight with much good sailing.

July found us driving up va & MD's eastern shore to Wilmington, de, visiting longwood gardens & brandywine river museum. On to new Hampshire next to visit dave's high school friend, ken jones & wife sue at their Laconia lake home. We visited mt Washington, & enjoyed a special tour of the weather station where we learned this mountain is 2nd only to mt everest for record high winds.. Maine was next & we spent four glorious weeks in cool temperatures in the Lobster fishing village of friendship. We believe that we made the right choice of summer habitat, as nc was having record heat. While in maine, we visited acadia national park, bar harbor, & many other towns, enjoying maritime museums, art galleries, ferries to Monhegan island, eastern egg island to see atlantic puffins, saw many lighthouses, picnicked, attended a country fair. & ate lots of lobster. Dave also spent two nights with nc friends Joe & Kathy on their new boat sailing on Muscongus and Penobscot bay. We walked to the rocky beach most days to see the 12 foot tides change & also enjoyed crystal pond, in our back yard where we saw eagles, fish hawks, egrets, ducks & gulls.

Sadly we headed back south after a last lobster dinner. But The magic still continued with two days in Baltimore, md, where we had dinner with another of dave's high school friends, Lew & wife Amy & explored Baltimore waterfront communities which are gems. Home did feel good, but the heat continued with serious drought.. We cooled off with more cruises with our sailing club ,and dave sailed in fall racing. New bern's "ghost walk", fun for us as docents.

Dave continues as a "Southern Gentleman" in The Barbershop group, picks up trash on the "Road Gang", drives veterans to the VA, serves on the Adjuciactory panel of our poa & is a certs volunteer. Judith taught gardening seminars, gardens at the County Extension service, growing vegetables for charity, is on a couple of county advisory committees, & watches birds regularly.

Our Garden was on tour in June with dave's help in adding trellises & Judith's planting, which included the New Medicine Wheel Garden. Dave installed 3 rain barrels to downspouts to conserve water we continue to attend grandchildren concerts, & sports events when in town, and spend time with family and friends.. As dave says, "Life is Good".

And we hope it has been and will continue to be for you too. Peace

Love and hugs, Judy
