Hello to all, |
|
Time slips away:
For some reason writing these letters has become hard once again. I recall that a few years back I almost stopped writing for the very same reason. It just wasn't fun anymore. However, my sister Elizabeth slapped me around a bit and reminded me that these letters were one way of leaving behind some history. I guess it would sort of remind folks that I was once here. That is assuming that anyone would bother to keep and read whatever is written about here. That did the trick back then and I found new energy until now. It must be time for a slap job once again. I wonder if she would do that for me once again…...ummmmm |

It's sports time once again:
It’s not predictably warm around here just yet.
Just when you think we start to think that the weather has made a break through to the nice temps and full time sunshine, a cold front rolls in and smacks us silly. While the cold temps and stiff wind didn’t stop the kids, the grownups were freezing their buns off on the sidelines. Of course, those kids are a year older now and play even harder. From what we can observe Jacob enjoys being back on the field. We have always wondered if contact sport is something he really enjoys. Last year it appeared that baseball would be his game but he asked to play soccer again this year. So we might be wrong about what he really likes.
While his team mates all seem to be having a good time, winning really isn’t stressed at this level of play. The games are played mostly play for the fun of it. It does seem that the kids all seem to know if they won or not. Plus, one can’t miss the parents yelling as if they were telling the kids to get out of the street. During one of the scrimmages the regular coach was unable to attend and our own Mr. Greg (yes, Jacob’s Dad) was asked to coach. He did a wonderful job and didn’t even slap any of the kids around when they goofed around. I had to wonder how I might have reacted when the kids acted silly and didn’t listen. Perhaps it’s a good thing that I wasn’t asked to coach. Not that I know the first thing about soccer.

Wedding plans announced:
Early this month we got a call from our son Brian who said he and Kristi were coming out to talk over something important.
Once they arrived we learned that they are ready to tie the knot and very soon. Actually we already knew that they were planning to marry and were keeping the plan on hold until her Dad’s health improved. That has happened and there isn’t any reason to delay the big day any more. The wedding will be April 26th and given the close date, we have had to do some rush planning to get everything done. One of the things they asked us to do was to shoot some “pre” wedding photos that could be used on the big day. We were thrilled to be asked and we have a few to include here. We were also asked to be the “official” photographer at the wedding and that we did. We’ll likely feature some of those photos in the May news. Here are some two photos we shot during one of our photo shoots. Kristi’s Dad has been ill for quite some time and her Mom has had no time to do much of the planning that would normally fall to the Mother of the Bride.
That meant that the planning for the wedding fell mostly to Kristi and Brian and Mrs. Gerrie. There were invitation to order, dinner arrangements to arrange, and lots of details to get in order in just under a month. Fortunately Brian and Kristi did find a church they both liked and it just happened that the minister was available on that day. It also just happened that a suitable place for a reception was available as well. They were able to accommodate them on short notice and we must say, did a fantastic job. All-n-all things did work out very well. That’s not to say that there wasn’t some hand wringing to go along with the planning. We’ll make sure to report more on that in the next letter. |

Sister Elizabeth celebrates:
On April 22nd we drove to Pickerington, a town about 20 miles from here, to be present for dinner and help surprise Elizabeth on her birthday. No, actually she knew it was her birthday, and she did know that her family group would be there, but she didn’t know that Mrs. Gerrie and I would be there.
That was the surprise part. One other surprise is that the waitresses had Elizabeth stand in front of the entire assembly at the restaurant while she announced, in a very loud voice, her birthday to one and all. I would certainly rethink my celebrating a birthday at that restaurant now that I’ve seen what they do to embarrass you. Now, I ask...is all that hoop-la necessary? None the less we managed to have a very nice visit and hopefully Liz got to celebrate her birthday having a lot of family around. |

Spring Days:
It seems that once every third year we manage to escape a late frost and have good enough weather that all the flowering trees get to put on a huge display in our yard. This was our year. Every tree we have managed to do it’s thing fully this year. We have lots of flowering trees and We’ll include some photos in our web version to show you what it looks like here. We are having some good weather, not too cold and certainly not too hot around here. Hopefully it’s going to be what we would call a “Normal” Spring, if there is such a thing. |

|
End of the Month:
That's it for now. We hope that all of you are in good health and spirits and your Spring is as good as our is beginning to be. Do take good care and drop us a note when you can. |

Hugs, Jerry & Gerrie McDonald |
