Hello to all,

Changes are coming 01/01:

It’s the beginning of a new year and we are looking to make some big changes as this year. First of all this is the last year that Mrs. Gerrie will be working. She retires at the end of June and is counting the days until she can putter in the garden all day long every day.

There is a possibility that she will continue in some capacity at the board office where she has worked for so many years, but the details have not been finalized.

It's that time of year once again 01/19:

Today, while driving back from Mom & Dads, we saw three Blue Birds on the wing which reminded us to begin thinking about the birds returning for another nesting season. It also reminded us that our bird houses have been stored away all winter and it’s time to get them out so that early scout birds can find them.

This past fall we constructed six new houses that we’re anxious see if the Blue Birds like. It's a new design and we are anxious to see if they like it better than some of the others we've built. In the past we have never had more than one mating pair on the property. We always put out many boxes but just don't seem to attract more than two birds for some reason. We have our fingers crossed for this year. You might remember last year when one of our Blue Bird houses found favor with a pair of Barn Swallows and shortly thereafter a pair of Blue Birds showed up to use it. An awful dispute erupted with the Swollows winning temporarly, but just as they left the Blue Birds moved in and raised a clutch. This year we are offering many more sites it might just be that we can accomodate both pair simultaneously. Hopefully we will break our record for nesting pairs of Swollows and Blue Birds. So far we have seen none of the birds, but we are on alert.

Looking forward to vacation 01/01:

We have been talking about our yearly Florida trip for some time now. It’s almost time to get on the road and head south and we are very anxious to get out of Dodge. Again this year we have no firm plans. It’s likely that we will head out for our usual three day drive to the southwest part of Florida then look around to see what might be available. In the past that’s our usual process and it’s always happened that we found nice accommodations . Cross your fingers for another safe and warm vacation.

Christmas…...again? 01/27:

Again this year we enjoyed an after Christmas get-to-gather with Pat and Dick Miller. This year it was their turn to drive to Columbus. As we had done in the past we gathered at Mom and Dad’s condo for dinner but later we drove to Brian’s house so that they could see his new place before we ended up at Greg and Kristin’s house. That might seem like a lot of driving, but fortunately we all live within a few minutes of each other so the driving was not an issue.

All the adults agreed to give up the gift buying for each other this past year and only do gifts for the little ones. Of course that leaves Jacob as the only kid for the time being. We have high hopes for some of their Pat and Dick’s children for the future.

Not much to report 01/31:

It must be a slow month for news since we are only on page three and have nothing else to report.

We have focused on packing our bags for vacation and have thought of little else. It’s our hope that the dreaded last minute rush won’t be so awful this year as it has in the past.

We do hope all of you are in good health and doing well. We haven't seen the cold weather but are hearing that it’s on the way….Hopefully the weather were we land is much better.

Hugs,

Jerry & Gerrie McDonald
