There is no way that we can call it warm, but when the wind is all but calm and the sun shining brightly, it's very nice out on the beach.
Our total outings today consisted of one quickie walk on the beach and a trip out for dinner at a local restaurant. Our dinner was at the local Italian restaurant. Mrs. Gerrie got the Eggplant Parmesian while I ate the Pork Chop Marsala. When I ordered, the waiter asked me how I wanted that cooked. I was very surprised by that since no one ever asked me about how to cook any pork dish I ever had. Anyway without thinking I said well done. I guess that was a bit of a mistake since it not only arrived late, but had been converted from pork chops to pork jerky. I am guessing that it takes time to burn pork, plus I've never had pork so well done as to be almost non chewable. I later asked the waiter if it was tough given that I ordered it well done and he confirmed that it was. He said that he cooks them a bit pink in the middle. I guess that means that the middle of the meat hadn't had it's temperature raised to the point where all the little microbes that might be in there would be fried properly. The waiter added that it's being recommended that you ask for pork to be cooked a bit pink. That's news to me, but then I'm just a country boy and perhaps no one ever told me about this. Likely some new research funded by the pork industry at some leading university, no doubt.
I've decided not to patronize that restaurant again...I'm thinking they invented the story to cover the fact that my meat had fallen off the stove in their mad rush to fix the food for all the tables around us (they all got their food first). Once relocated, and found to be a bit soiled, they thought it better to recook it to make sure I didn't get sick from eating it. Next time I'll know how to reply to a waiter who asks how I want pork cooked...hopefully you won't have this problem when you next order it.
Hugs,
Jerry & Gerrie
