Posted from Sanibel Island, Florida

Finally it's warmed a bit. No wait!! It's not warmed any at all, the good news is that the wind has diminished and it feels warmer. I'm thinking that the temperature even broke 60 today, and we were able to be outside quite a bit and it was great.

We actually were out for several hours, first on our beach. Then during a side trip up to Bailey's Store, we stopped by the Bailey Preserve for a nature observation walk. Unfortunately there was very little to be seen at the preserve. I'm not sure what they have all that land preserved for because if you are looking for bird or other animal life, you'll find much more closer to the residents, not at the preserve. We did see one of the fatest alligators we've seen in a while. We've included some photos of him, and since he was on the bank, not 10 feet from us, I decided not to opt for any close ups. I've been told that they are exceedingly fast for the first 30 feet. Given my gimpy state these days, I was afraid that he might take a liking to me and I wouldn't be able to keep any distance. Hence, the not so close photos.

I'm including some photos from yesterday since the available shots for today were somewhat limited.

Just a word about the weather conditions back home. We heard from our daughter that they are expecting an additional 4 - 8 inches of snow...yea, that's on top of the 20 or more inches that is already on the ground. This winter is the one to be here in Florida. It's brutal there. Our Son-in-law Greg, did try to get to our house this past weekend and got stuck in the driveway. He said the snow was over the bumper of the car. That's about knee deep or so. We haven't had a winter like this one since the 70s...likely many of you will remember the winter of 78. I recall, the winter of 77 being worse for me because I had 6' drifts in my driveway...That was one to remember.

Hugs,
Jerry & Gerrie
