The weather was a bit better today, despite a breeze (this time coming form the SE), the temps were near 70 and it was comfortable for a beach walk. We wanted to get Mom out on the beach at least one more time before we had to leave the Island tomorrow. There were many unusual shells present on the beach today. It seems that every day there is something different that wasn't there the day before.

Today Mom started a major bird fight by trying to throw a dead shell back into the water....a gull rushed in to rescue the morsel and a fight ensued. She thought she was going to have to break up the fight at one point, but fortunately no blood was shed. This was all happened in the morning.

If you've been reading our posts for the past few days you'll know that we have been conducting tours of Sanibel and Captiva for various friends. Today was no different. Our friends Veronica and her Mom came to see us. They arrived from the Bradenton area around 1:30pm. After we said our hellos and toured them through our condo (that took about 15 minutes) we wasted no time getting on the road for the Island Cow for lunch (yes once again). We are getting to be regulars there.

Today our tour included a different part of Sanibel that one gets to by driving out Dixie Beach Road then on to Woodring Road. That leads to a point that overlooks that Tarpon Bay that we talked about in an earlier Travelog. That's the one where we took the pontoon tour of the estuary. The Woodring family were very early settlers and some of the family are still on the island. This road ends on a small ismus that extends into the bay. There is a house there that rents for $16,000 per month, or you can buy it for $3.8 million. I know you'll say that's expensive, but afterall it has it's very own Osprey nest on the roof and that alone is worth a lot.
